Information Management Solution Provider Toppan Forms Co., Ltd. (Toppan Forms hereunder) launched the 'Fast Shot' service that allows applicants to open a bank account with just a smartphone by simultaneously shooting driver's license and stamp seal with its camera. The service significantly reduces the time to open a bank account, and also simplifies the application process by eliminating the need to request for application forms and the hassle of copying proof documents.
End users, by following the instruction on the screen enter their personal information and upload them to Toppan Forms server with photo image of driver's license and stamp seal. The information assembled at Toppan Forms automatically generates PDF image of forms for reviewing which is transmitted to the bank's server. The bank, therefore, do not have to change the conventional reviewing workflow process.
The service based on 'FastShot', adopted by Shinsei Bank Limited, launched on March 27 2014, is the first in Japan to accept stamp seals electronically (According to Toppan Forms). Being able to take a snapshot of driver's license and registered stamp seal side by side, is the most significant feature which allows accurate verification of the stamp seal dimension in relation to the driver's license. The feature is jointly being applied for a patent.
Shinsei bank currently is promoting services based on smartphone, to improve the convenience of remote channel transaction. 'FastShot' simplifies the application process, and the bank expects the service to increase the number of account opening.
